About the role
YANA Family Violence Service is seeking an experienced and highly organised Finance & Administration Officer to join our Finance & Corporate Services team.
This is an opportunity to bring your finance and administration skills to a values-driven organisation where the work you do behind the scenes directly supports our ability to provide safe accommodation and high-quality services to women and children experiencing family violence.
YANA is a not-for-profit family violence service providing crisis accommodation, intensive support and outreach services to women, with and without children, experiencing family violence. Established in 1974 as Victoria's first women's refuge, YANA has a proud history of feminist advocacy and supporting victim-survivors.
Today, we operate a purpose-built, high-security Core and Cluster refuge in Melbourne's northern metropolitan region and are a small organisation experiencing significant growth.
Reporting to the Manager – Finance & Corporate Services, the Finance & Administration Officer plays an important role in supporting the financial integrity and day-to-day operations of YANA.
This is a varied, hands-on position combining finance, bookkeeping and administration. You will work closely with the Finance & Corporate Services team, CEO, Refuge Manager, management and frontline staff.
Your responsibilities will include:
Because YANA operates within a sensitive family violence environment, the successful applicant will demonstrate a high level of professionalism, discretion, confidentiality and sound judgement.
We are looking for someone who enjoys making things work well.
You are organised, reliable and comfortable taking responsibility for your work. You have strong attention to detail, enjoy working with numbers and systems, and can confidently follow a task through from beginning to end.
You will ideally bring:
Experience within the not-for-profit, community services or family violence sector would be highly regarded, as would experience supporting facilities, procurement, asset management or workplace health and safety functions.
At YANA, finance and administration are not simply back-office functions. Strong systems, careful financial management and good administration help ensure our frontline teams can focus on what matters most – supporting women and children to be safe and rebuild their lives.
You will join a small, purpose-driven organisation where your contribution is visible and where you will have the opportunity to work across a broad range of financial and operational functions.
Our values of Respect, Collaboration and Feminism guide how we work with clients, colleagues and our community.
The successful applicant will be required to hold or obtain the relevant pre-employment checks and requirements, including:
A six-month probation period applies.
YANA Family Violence Service Inc. has an Equal Opportunity Exemption under the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (H282/2022), and applications for this position are open to female candidates only.
YANA is a Child Safe Organisation. We recognise, respect and promote children's rights and take a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse.
For further information about the position, please contact Amali Liyanage, Manager – Finance & Corporate Services, via recruitment@yana.org.au using the subject line: Finance & Administration Officer enquiry via EthicalJobs.
Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and early applications are encouraged. YANA is seeking to appoint to the position as soon as practicable.
A position description is attached.
