We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at our Mackay Workshop on a full-time basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Australian operation and work alongside an experienced team supporting the maintenance, reliability and performance of heavy mining and earthmoving equipment.

About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Mechanical Engineer will provide technical and engineering support to the workshop and maintenance teams, with a focus on equipment reliability, maintenance improvement and engineering solutions.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Providing mechanical engineering support across workshop maintenance and repair activities
Supporting the inspection, assessment, repair and modification of heavy earthmoving and mining equipment
Developing practical engineering solutions to improve equipment reliability, safety and performance
Reviewing equipment failures and maintenance issues and identifying opportunities for improvement
Assisting with root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
Supporting the planning and execution of maintenance and refurbishment projects
Reviewing engineering drawings, technical specifications and equipment documentation
Assisting with the design and implementation of modifications, repairs and structural improvements
Working closely with trades, maintenance personnel and management to ensure engineering solutions are practical and effective
Ensuring engineering activities comply with relevant Australian Standards, legislation and company requirements
Supporting risk assessments, technical investigations and engineering documentation
Monitoring equipment performance and identifying opportunities to reduce downtime and maintenance costs
Contributing to continuous improvement, reliability and maintenance strategies
Maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and environmental standards
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering
Relevant experience in mining, heavy industry, earthmoving or mobile equipment environments
Experience supporting the maintenance, repair or refurbishment of heavy mobile equipment
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, equipment reliability and maintenance principles
Experience with engineering assessments, fault finding and root cause analysis
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and equipment manuals
Experience developing practical engineering solutions for complex equipment and maintenance issues
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with trades, maintenance teams and operational personnel
Strong commitment to health, safety, quality and environmental standards
A proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Current Australian Driver's Licence
Desirable
Previous experience with large mining and earthmoving equipment
Experience with excavators, loaders, dozers or other heavy mobile equipment
Experience with structural repairs, fabrication or equipment modifications
Experience with reliability engineering or maintenance optimisation
Experience with engineering or maintenance management systems
