GM3 is inviting expressions of interest from experienced mining professionals for potential roles at Tahmoor Mine following the proposed recommencement of operations. 

We are excited about the opportunity to support the next chapter of Tahmoor Mine and are looking for experienced people who would like to help build a safe, productive and sustainable operation. 

Successful candidates for these roles will be employed by GM3 and are expected to be based at Tahmoor Mine following completion of the proposed acquisition.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

Reporting to the Ventilation and Gas Drainage Superintendent, the Ventilation Officer will manage Tahmoor Mine’s ventilation system to support safe, compliant and well-controlled underground operations. The role provides technical ventilation expertise, maintains critical controls and ensures ventilation planning aligns with statutory requirements, production, gas management and mine planning priorities. 

This role is based at Tahmoor Mine, located in the Southern Highlands of NSW, approximately 80 kilometres south-west of Sydney and within easy commuting distance of Wollongong, the Macarthur region and surrounding communities. 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to: 

• Exercise the statutory Ventilation Officer function and ensure ventilation activities meet WHS legislation, practising certificate requirements and site Safety Management System standards. 

• Manage Tahmoor Mine’s ventilation systems, standards, surveys, environmental monitoring and critical controls to support safe and compliant underground operations. 

• Develop ventilation modelling, designs and plans using VentSim to support mine planning, gas management and operational continuity. 

• Implement strategies to manage gas, support gas drainage activities, prevent spontaneous combustion and control key ventilation risks. 

• Monitor ventilation system performance, review completed work, provide input into operating plans and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. 

• Supervise and support ventilation team members, manage relevant budget inputs and collaborate with technical and operational teams to strengthen site readiness and performance. 

ABOUT YOU 

What you’ll bring: 

• Ventilation Officer Certificate, Graduate Diploma in Mine Ventilation or equivalent qualification, with a current practising certificate to perform the statutory Ventilation Officer function. 

• Undermanager or Deputy Certificate of Competency, or experience working in an underground coal mine with gas drainage, will be highly regarded. 

• Experience in underground coal operations, including ventilation management, with Ventilation Officer or step-up ventilation experience highly regarded. 

• Strong technical capability in mine ventilation, including practical experience using VentSim modelling software. 

• Understanding of gas drainage, mine planning processes and the impact of ventilation decisions across short and medium-term planning horizons. 

• Strong communication, influencing and decision-making skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and all levels of the business.
