Hospitality Staff (Wait staff, Kitchenhands, Chefs)

About the role

WCG Catering is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Hospitality Staff to join our team in Aspley, QLD. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment. We are recruiting for multiple roles including Wait Staff, Kitchenhands, and Chefs to support our growing catering operations. Whether you are front-of-house or back-of-house, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional service and culinary experiences to our diverse clientele. This position offers the chance to develop your skills in a professional kitchen and service environment whilst contributing to the success of high-quality catering events and operations.

Key responsibilities

For Wait Staff:

• Greeting guests and providing excellent customer service with a positive and professional demeanour

• Taking orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring all special requests and dietary requirements are communicated to the kitchen

• Serving food and beverages promptly and courteously to guests

• Clearing tables and maintaining dining areas to a high standard of cleanliness

• Processing payments and handling cash or card transactions responsibly

• Supporting event setup and breakdown as required

For Kitchenhands:

• Preparing ingredients and assisting chefs with food preparation tasks

• Maintaining kitchen cleanliness and hygiene standards at all times

• Washing, sanitising and storing kitchen equipment and utensils

• Managing stock rotation and assisting with inventory management

• Supporting food plating and presentation under chef guidance

• Operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently

For Chefs:

• Planning and preparing menus that meet client specifications and dietary requirements

• Creating high-quality dishes using fresh ingredients and professional cooking techniques

• Leading and supervising kitchen staff to ensure efficiency and quality standards

• Maintaining food safety and hygiene regulations consistently

• Managing food costs and reducing waste whilst maintaining quality

• Collaborating with management to develop new menus and catering offerings

What we're looking for

Essential skills and experience:

• Previous experience in hospitality, catering, or food service is highly desirable

• Strong customer service skills with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

• A commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety

• Physical fitness and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment for extended periods

• Reliability and punctuality

Preferred qualifications:

• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or equivalent hospitality qualification

• RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification for wait staff positions

• Formal chef training or culinary qualifications for chef positions

• Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems and hospitality software

• Knowledge of current food trends and cooking techniques
