SMG CONSTRUCTION WA PTY LTD Position Summary The Wall and Floor Tiler is responsible for installing high-quality wall and floor tiling across residential construction, renovations, extensions and commercial fit-out projects. The role involves preparing surfaces, applying waterproofing systems, laying and finishing tiles to Australian standards, and working collaboratively with the construction team to deliver durable, safe and visually appealing outcomes that meet client and project requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities  Interpret building drawings and specifications, and accurately measure and mark surfaces to establish tile layouts. Prepare wall and floor areas by removing existing tiles, adhesives, and grout, andrepairing any surface imperfections such as cracks or holes. Apply appropriate adhesives to prepared surfaces and carefully position tiles to achieve correct placement.

Cut and shape tiles using specialised tools to fit edges, corners, and around fixtures including pipes and fittings. Ensure tiles are evenly aligned and properly spaced to maintain a uniform and high- quality finish. Apply grout between tiles, remove excess material, and complete finishing touches to meet company quality standards.

Install waterproofing membranes and systems where required to protect surfaces from moisture damage. Lay specialty finishes such as terrazzo, granolithic surfaces, and decorative or patterned mosaic tiles. Deliver all tiling work with strong attention to accuracy, durability, and visual appeal.

Follow workplace health and safety procedures and comply with relevant construction regulations at all times. Work cooperatively with other tradespeople to ensure projects are completed efficiently and on schedule. Provide regular updates to supervisors regarding work progress and address any site-related concerns promptly.

Essential Requirements Relevant trade qualification (Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling or equivalent). At least 1 to 3 years of relevant post-qualification skilled experience, or a combination of qualifications and relevant industry experience. Experience in residential and/or commercial construction projects.

Ability to read construction drawings and specifications. Experience applying waterproofing systems and installing various tile types. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Ability to work independently and as part of a construction team. Current White Card (or ability to obtain). Valid Australian Driver's Licence is desirable.
