Task & responsibilities Accurately interpret plans, drawings, and specifications, and measure and mark surfaces to be tiled with precision. Prepare floor and wall surfaces by removing existing materials, thoroughly cleaning surfaces, and filling holes and cracks as required. Mix and prepare adhesives, grouts, cement-based compounds, and other tiling materials in accordance with manufacturer specifications and project requirements.

Apply adhesives and other bonding materials to surfaces and set tiles accurately. Cut and shape tiles using appropriate tools and equipment to achieve precise fitting around corners, edges, fixtures, and other obstacles. Install a variety of tiles, including ceramic, clay, slate, marble, and glass, on internal and external surfaces.

Ensure proper alignment, spacing, levels, and positioning of tiles to achieve a professional finish. Grout tiled surfaces and remove excess grout and other materials to achieve a clean and consistent finish. Prepare and level floor areas, including applying flooring mixtures such as cement, terrazzo, and granolithic materials.

Apply waterproofing materials as required to protect tiled surfaces and ensure durability. Install coloured tiles in intricate patterns and mosaics to create decorative designs in accordance with plans and specifications. Inspect completed tiling work to ensure quality standards, accurate alignment, appropriate finishes, and compliance with project specifications.

Identify and rectify defects, uneven surfaces, damaged tiles, and other tiling issues as required. Carry out repair and maintenance work on tiled surfaces to maintain their appearance, functionality, and longevity. Provide clients with recommendations regarding the proper care and maintenance of tiled surfaces following installation.

Qualification & experience Relevant Certificate III qualification or higher qualification. At least 1 year of proven work experience as a Wall and Floor Tiler. Demonstrated expertise in interpreting plans and specifications, measuring and marking surfaces, and installing various types of tiles.

Proficiency in surface preparation, adhesive application, grouting, waterproofing, and tile cutting. Knowledge of floor preparation, levelling techniques, and the use of cement-based and other flooring mixtures. Ability to create intricate patterns and mosaics and achieve high-quality finishes.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team. A valid White Card (construction induction card).

Sound knowledge of construction materials, tools, equipment, and workplace safety requirements. Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation.
