About the role
We are seeking an experienced Spray Painter / Blaster to join the team at Precision Metal Group Aust Pty Ltd. This is a full-time position based in Wetherill Park, NSW. In this role, you will be responsible for applying protective coatings and finishes to metal components and fabricated structural steel materials using spray painting and blasting techniques. This position is integral to maintaining the quality and durability of our products, ensuring they meet industry standards and customer specifications. You will work on-site at our facility, collaborating with a skilled trades team to deliver exceptional results.
Key responsibilities
Read and understand mechanical and workshop drawings, work orders and production schedules to determine product or job instructions and specifications
Operate spray painting equipment to apply primers, topcoats, and protective finishes to metal surfaces with precision and consistency
Perform abrasive blasting and surface preparation tasks to remove rust, scale, and contaminants from metal components
Inspect surfaces and finished work to ensure coatings meet quality standards and specifications
Mix and prepare paint and coating materials according to manufacturer instructions and project requirements
Maintain and clean spray painting equipment, blasting tools, and work areas to ensure optimal performance and safety
Follow health and safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
Document work completed and maintain accurate records of materials used and time spent on projects
Collaborate with other team members to meet project deadlines and production schedules
Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors
What we're looking for
Proven experience as a Spray Painter and/or Blaster, ideally within the metal fabrication or manufacturing industry
Proficiency in operating spray painting equipment and abrasive blasting machinery
Knowledge of surface preparation techniques and coating application methods
Understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to spray painting and blasting work, including confined space entry where applicable
Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and project requirements
Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality finishes
Physical capability to perform tasks requiring standing, climbing, and handling of equipment and materials
Reliability, punctuality, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Willingness to work as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment
Relevant qualifications or certifications in spray painting, blasting, or surface preparation (desirable)
