About the Role

As a Legal Assistant, you will provide key assistance with various administrative and legal tasks for our Workplace Relations & Safety and Corporate groups in Canberra.

This role is being offered on a 12-month fixed term contract basis.

Responsibilities

• Diary management
• Creation of new clients and matters through Aderant
• Booking meetings/venues/flights
• Billing
• Preparing monthly client reports and accounts
• Performing administrative services, including typing, editing and proof-reading letters, memos, briefs and court documents, drafting letters, dictatyping, formatting documents, filing and archiving
• Database updating
• Answering phones
• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders

About You

• Australian citizen with security clearance or willingness to obtain one, if required
• Administrative support experience within a law firm preferred
• A working knowledge of Outlook MS Word, Excel, OneNote & PowerPoint
• Exposure to practice and document management systems such as Aderant, iManage, InTapp and Legal Tracker desired but not essential
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, spelling and grammar
• Proven decision making and problem-solving ability
• Demonstrated time management and organisational skills
• Influencing and conflict management skills
• The ability to build strong working relationships and skilfully deal with people at all levels throughout the firm
• Demonstrated ability to manage change at a personal and team level
• Strong team collaboration skills with an ability to lead by example
• A strong customer service focus with a high level of responsiveness
