For 20 years, EON Aboriginal Foundation has partnered with remote communities across the Northern Territory and Western Australia to reduce health inequity, providing children and families with access to nutritious food and the know-how to make healthier choices that reduce the risk of disease.

Through our Thriving Communities Program, edible gardens become a vehicle for hands-on nutrition education, cultural connection and practical life skills.

Job Opportunity:

We are seeking an Operations Manager to help lead the delivery of our Thriving Communities Program across remote WA. You'll bring experience working with remote Aboriginal communities, a genuine understanding and respect for Aboriginal culture, and a strong interest in health, nutrition and gardening/horticulture. You'll be a key source of knowledge in these areas, supporting your team to deliver programs that are practical, meaningful and culturally grounded.

This role suits someone who is positive, respectful and practical – someone who enjoys working with people, builds trust easily, is willing to get involved and can adapt when things don't go to plan.

Ideally based in Subiaco, though applications from people living in the Kimberley are welcomed. Regular travel across WA (and occasionally the NT) is required – generally two trips per month for several days at a time.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the planning, delivery and evaluation of EON's Thriving Communities Program in remote WA communities, currently in the Kimberley and Mid West.
• Lead, mentor and support a small, geographically dispersed and diverse delivery team.
• Work closely with NT operational staff to maintain consistency and provide support across program delivery.
• Build and maintain strong, genuine relationships with school principals, teachers, community leaders and local partners — always guided by what communities tell us they need.
• Work closely with the CEO and other senior managers to ensure program delivery reflects EON's goals and values.
• Help identify opportunities for future growth and assess potential new communities for program expansion.
• Manage program budgets and ensure they are aligned with funding agreements.
• Provide clear reporting and communication to the EON team and stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with funders and strategic partners to support program sustainability.
• Help deliver the program on the ground as required.

The Ideal Candidate Will Bring

• Strong people management and leadership skills, with experience supporting and leading teams. Experience managing remote teams will be highly regarded.
• A positive, respectful and people-focused approach, with the ability to build trust and create good working relationships.
• Experience working in remote and regional Aboriginal communities, with a genuine understanding and respect for Aboriginal culture.
• Good knowledge of remote and regional Western Australia, including local communities, networks and key stakeholders.
• An interest or experience in health, nutrition, cooking and gardening, with the confidence to share knowledge and support others in these areas.
• Adaptability and a solutions-focused approach, with the ability to work through challenges in remote and cross-cultural settings.
• A willingness to listen, learn and take feedback, and the ability to recognise when a different approach is needed.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships through honesty, reliability and follow-through.
• The ability to remain positive and constructive when things are challenging or don't go to plan.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently to remote communities, generally twice per month for most of the year.
• Experience managing budgets, writing reports and overseeing multiple projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and other relevant software.
• Candidates with a background in Education, Health, Community Services or a related field are highly regarded.
