Director Legal - Energy and Regulation

The Opportunity 

The Director, Legal - Energy and Regulation plays a pivotal role in shaping Victoria's energy future by providing expert legal and regulatory guidance across VicGrid's program of works. This role applies deep knowledge of energy regulation and legislation to influence policy development and support the successful delivery of projects that make a lasting impact for Victorian communities.

What you will deliver  

• Lead legal and regulatory strategy across VicGrid's projects, including Renewable Energy Zones (REZs), providing expert advice that supports critical outcomes for Victoria's energy future.
• Identify and navigate emerging legislative and regulatory challenges, delivering practical, commercially focused solutions that enable successful project delivery.
• Drive the development of legislation, regulations and policy, working closely with government, industry and internal stakeholders to influence key energy reform initiatives.
• Provide trusted strategic advice to senior leaders and government decision-makers, managing legal and regulatory risk while shaping high-profile policy, governance and regulatory outcomes. 

What you will bring 

• Deep expertise in energy regulation, legislation and policy, with the ability to provide practical, strategic legal advice.
• Strong experience managing complex legal and regulatory risks across energy, connections infrastructure, or government projects.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships across government, industry and executive leadership.
• Proven leadership capability, fostering high-performing teams and driving collaboration is highly regarded.
