Project Engineer / Project Manager

About the role

The Project Engineer / Project Manager is a full time position based in Melbourne, Victoria, involving a combination of site based and office based work. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and managing the delivery of civil infrastructure and engineering projects across Melbourne and regional Victoria. You will work closely with clients, contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project scope, programme, budget, quality requirements and contractual obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the delivery of civil infrastructure and engineering projects.

• Coordinate contractors, consultants, designers, suppliers and project stakeholders.

• Monitor construction activities, progress, programme, cost, quality and safety performance.

• Undertake site inspections and identify construction, quality and technical issues.

• Manage project risks, actions, interfaces and deliverables.

• Review engineering drawings, specifications, technical reports and construction documentation.

• Support design management, constructability reviews and resolution of technical issues.

• Prepare project reports, meeting minutes, correspondence, registers and other project documentation.

• Assist with project planning, programming, budgeting, forecasting and cost control.

• Manage or support procurement, tender assessment and contractor engagement activities.

About you

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering, construction or infrastructure project experience is required (Local Australian Experience )

• Demonstrated experience delivering civil infrastructure, construction or engineering projects.

• Strong practical understanding of construction activities, site coordination and contractor management.

• Experience managing or supporting project programmes, budgets, risks, quality and project deliverables.

• Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control processes, including ITPs, hold points, inspections, non conformances and construction records.

• Ability to read, interpret and critically review engineering drawings, specifications, technical reports and construction documentation.

• Understanding of civil and/or structural engineering principles, constructability and design management.

• Experience coordinating contractors, consultants, designers and other project stakeholders.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate confidently with clients, contractors and senior stakeholders.

• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing project demands.
