Lead Process Engineer - Sunshine Sugar Condong

About the role

Reporting to the Production Manager, the role combines daily production coordination, technical leadership and process improvement to enhance throughput, efficiency, quality, reliability and cost performance.

Working across production, maintenance, engineering, laboratory and cane supply teams, the position provides practical operational support and turns process data and site issues into effective actions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Production Manager in planning, coordinating and monitoring safe, efficient and reliable daily factory operations

• Monitor, analyse and report on throughput, efficiency, recovery, downtime, quality, cost and production trends

• Provide technical and troubleshooting support to operational and laboratory teams

• Coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering to prioritise equipment issues and improve reliability

• Lead continuous improvement, operational change, capital project and system improvement initiatives

• Support production planning, maintenance season preparation, budgeting, quality control and production reporting

• Train, coach and supervise production employees while promoting safety, teamwork, accountability, communication and respect

We are looking for

• Relevant qualifications or substantial practical experience in sugar milling, process engineering or continuous industrial operations

• Experience in sugar milling, food manufacturing, refining, power generation or a comparable continuous process environment

• Strong process monitoring, data analysis, troubleshooting and practical problem-solving capability

• Understanding of key production drivers, including safety, throughput, efficiency, reliability, quality and cost

• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, mentor and supervise operational employees

• Sound knowledge of WHS, food safety, environmental and quality requirements

• Strong communication and collaboration skills across production, maintenance, engineering, laboratory and management teams

• A practical, improvement-focused approach with good computer literacy and confidence using production reporting and business systems

• Knowledge of industrial process control systems, or the willingness and aptitude to learn and this develop capability
