Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Installation and Fabrication (or Trade) Assistant to join the K&F Fabrications team.

This role will suit someone who:

• Is confident working on construction sites

• Takes ownership of their work

• Is comfortable using power tools and problem-solving on the go

• Values quality, safety, and professionalism

While experience in metal and glass installation is highly regarded, attitude, reliability, and transferable skills are just as important. This role would suit an experienced Trade Assistant, installer, or someone from a construction background who is ready to step up.

You will be involved in the installation of custom-fabricated metal products across residential and commercial projects, working from drawings and plans through to final handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Install custom-fabricated metal components including balustrades, gates, fences, and bespoke projects, ensuring accuracy and a high standard of craftsmanship.

• Help prepare and organise jobs for fabrication by cutting, marking, and drilling material

• Help manage installations from start to finish, including site preparation, execution, and final checks.

• Interpret and work from technical drawings and specifications to ensure installations meet design and compliance requirements.

• Liaise professionally with clients, builders, and site supervisors, providing clear communication and excellent customer service.

• Conduct site assessments and confirm correct tools, fixings, and materials are used for each job.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work site at all times, adhering to workplace health and safety requirements.

• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve on-site challenges efficiently to minimise disruption to project timelines.

• Work collaboratively with the workshop and operations team to ensure seamless project delivery.

Skills & Experience

We’re looking for someone who brings practical capability and the right mindset, including:

• Experience working in construction, fabrication, glazing, or a similar trade-based environment

• Confidence using hand and power tools on active job sites

• Ability to work independently while also being a reliable team player

• Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to varying site conditions

• Ability to read drawings or willingness to learn quickly

• Professional communication and a customer-focused approach

• Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety and quality

Pathway Opportunity:
For the right candidate, there is an opportunity to be supported through a Glazing Apprenticeship or RPL and develop into a fully qualified tradesperson.
