Tailor / Seamstress – Clothing Alterations

About the role

The work will include a broad range of garment alterations, such as shortening trousers, jeans and dresses, taking garments in and letting them out, shortening sleeves including suit jackets, replacing zips, altering waistbands, repairs and general garment alterations, working with a variety of fabrics and garment types, and discussing alterations with customers and helping determine the best solution.

Key responsibilities

• Shortening trousers, jeans and dresses

• Repairs and general garment alterations

• Working with a variety of fabrics and garment types

• Discussing alterations with customers and helping determine the best solution

About you

• Previous professional experience in tailoring, dressmaking or clothing alterations

• The ability to complete common alterations independently and to a high standard

• Experience using industrial sewing equipment

• Strong attention to detail

• Pride in the quality of your work

• Good communication and customer service skills

• Reliability and the ability to work as part of a friendly team

• Comfortable independently completing alterations such as shortening trousers and jeans, taking in dresses and trousers, replacing zips and altering jacket sleeves
