Role Overview

Reporting into the Head of Technology, you will lead the design, delivery, and performance of the organisation’s applications and integration ecosystem. Your remit spans internally developed platforms, SaaS integrations, and enterprise data flows that underpin critical retail operations. Day to day, you will guide development activity, oversee integration delivery, and ensure systems remain stable, scalable, and aligned to operational demand.

A core component of the role is remaining deeply hands on. You will contribute directly to high level C# and .NET development, design API led integrations, and work across legacy and modern platforms to resolve technical constraints. This position requires a leader who can actively build, not just delegate, setting the technical standard across integration engineering and application delivery.

As the recognised Applications and Integrations specialist, you will play a key role in shaping the technology roadmap and future integration strategy. Working closely with both technology and business stakeholders, you will influence platform direction, guide investment priorities, and ensure systems evolve in line with transformation initiatives and enterprise planning objectives.

Responsibilities

• Own the applications and integrations landscape across the organisation.
• Design and deliver enterprise integrations using API and service based architectures.
• Contribute hands on to C# and .NET development across core platforms.
• Modernise legacy applications and refactor integration patterns.
• Lead internal developers and external engineering partners across delivery initiatives.
• Support enterprise platform programs including planning and SaaS system integration.
• Establish integration standards, governance, and engineering frameworks.
• Partner with business stakeholders to prioritise demand and sequence delivery.
• Improve development velocity and reduce technical debt backlog.
• Ensure platforms remain stable, secure, and operationally fit for purpose.

Candidate Profile

You are a senior Applications & Integrations engineer turned leader, bringing deep hands on capability across C# and .NET development. You have designed and delivered enterprise integrations using modern API frameworks and are comfortable operating across hybrid environments spanning legacy, on prem, and SaaS platforms. Your technical depth allows you to lead from the front and act as the escalation point for complex engineering challenges.

You bring more than a decade of commercial development experience, including several years operating in leadership or technical lead capacity. You have led developers, guided engineering standards, and delivered integration initiatives while remaining actively involved in hands on delivery. You are comfortable balancing build responsibilities with team oversight and delivery accountability.

Beyond technical capability, you bring a pragmatic modernisation mindset. You understand how to evolve platforms within real world budget and resource constraints, prioritising high impact improvements over theoretical redesign. You focus on practical uplift, improving delivery outcomes while maximising existing technology investments.
