Glass Cutter / CNC Operator

About the role

Palmers Glass & Carpentry is seeking a skilled Glass Cutter / CNC Operator to join our team on a full-time basis at our Gladesville, NSW location. This is a key position within our production operations, where you will be responsible for operating advanced CNC cutting equipment and performing precision glass cutting tasks. You will play an essential role in ensuring our products meet the highest quality standards while maintaining efficient production schedules. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in a dynamic trades and services environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate CNC glass cutting machinery with precision, following technical specifications and design requirements

• Perform manual glass cutting tasks using appropriate tools and techniques to ensure accurate dimensions and clean edges

• Prepare and set up cutting equipment, including loading materials and configuring machine parameters

• Inspect finished glass products for quality, accuracy and defects before dispatch

• Maintain detailed records of production runs, material usage and any issues encountered

• Clean and maintain all cutting equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards

• Follow all health and safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times

• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth workflow and address any production concerns

• Assist with other production duties as required to support business operations

What we're looking for

• Proven experience operating CNC cutting machinery or similar precision equipment

• Competency in manual glass cutting with knowledge of proper techniques and safety practices

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work to tight tolerances and specifications

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately

• Good understanding of health and safety requirements in a production environment

• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and commitment to quality

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Basic numeracy skills to accurately measure and calculate dimensions

• Physical fitness to perform manual handling tasks and operate equipment safely

• Relevant trade qualifications or formal training in glass cutting or CNC operation (preferred)

• Experience in the glass or carpentry industry (advantageous)
