About the role
The opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a welcoming service where educators are supported, their contributions are valued, and the safety, wellbeing and best interests of every child are at the centre of every decision. The service is committed to creating and maintaining a child-safe culture where every child is respected, included and protected from harm.
You will work with school-age children in a bright, purpose-built OOSH hub featuring well-appointed indoor spaces and an inviting outdoor area designed for play, exploration and fun.
Your shifts will include engaging with children, supporting breakfast or afternoon tea, facilitating creative and recreational activities, supervising indoor and outdoor play, and building positive relationships with children and their families.
You will actively promote children's safety and wellbeing through attentive supervision, positive behaviour guidance, respectful interactions and by responding appropriately to any child safety concerns in line with legislative and organisational requirements.
Hours and remuneration
The service operates Monday to Friday during school terms:
You will work a regular weekly roster of at least four morning and/or afternoon shifts.
The casual hourly rate is $37.58 (inclusive of WRP) for entry level Educator, plus superannuation, based on the applicable classification under the Children’s Services Award and your experience and recognised qualifications.
About you
You genuinely enjoy working with school-age children and are committed to creating environments where every child feels safe, valued, included and able to participate. You understand that protecting children's safety, wellbeing and rights is a fundamental responsibility of every educator.
Previous experience working with children in OOSH, education, inclusion support, disability support, youth work, coaching or a similar setting will be highly regarded.
You will also bring:
Knowledge of the National Quality Framework, the NSW Child Safe Standards, the Child Safe Standards under the Children’s Guardian Act, child protection obligations, and My Time, Our Place V2.0 will be highly regarded.
Relevant qualifications or current studies in education, school-age education and care, early childhood education, community services, youth work, disability support, psychology, sport and recreation, or a related area will also be well regarded.
Essential requirements
To be considered, you will need:
Commitment to child safety
Our client is committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety, wellbeing and rights of all children and young people. The safety, wellbeing and best interests of children are the paramount consideration in every aspect of service delivery and decision-making.
The service has a strong child-safe culture and expects every employee to actively contribute to creating environments where children feel safe, respected, heard and empowered. All staff are expected to uphold child-safe policies and practices, meet their legislative child protection obligations and model respectful, professional conduct at all times.
The successful applicant will be required to participate in comprehensive child-safe recruitment screening, including verification of qualifications, Working with Children Check, reference checks with a child safety focus, and any other relevant pre-employment checks.
