Rural Tradesperson- Qualified or Unqualified

A position has become available for a Rural Tradesperson within the Tamworth Livestock Maintenance Division, reporting directly to the Regional Livestock Manager. We are seeking a motivated, reliable, and safety-focused individual to undertake a range of specialised maintenance and repair tasks aligned with their trade skills and experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality workmanship, contributing to the upkeep and improvement of facilities and equipment, and ensuring all work is completed efficiently and to the highest standard.

Qualified Tradesperson responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Structural alterations and additions to facilities, including new installations

• Welding and fabrication, carpentry, plumbing as licenced, general servicing, auditing and inspection

• Preparation and painting, concreting, tiling, fitting and machining

• A qualified rural tradesperson would reasonably be expected to conduct specific duties to a predetermined level with an expectation of an outcome to a standard that is similar to that of a certified tradesperson

• The position is responsible for ensuring that all Baiada guidelines are followed as set out in the Management systems including Minimum Operating Standards, SQF Quality Systems, Bio Security procedures, Workplace Injury management System, Environmental management System (EMS), Workplace Health and Safety (WHS).

Unqualified Tradesperson responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Structural alterations and additions to facilities, including new installations – under instruction

• Assist a qualified Tradesperson in any aspects of their work

• General repairs and maintenance

• Preparation and painting, concreting, tiling, fitting and machining

• The position is also responsible for ensuring that all Baiada guidelines are followed as set out in the Management systems.

Required Skills (Must-haves):

• Qualified Tradesperson must hold a valid trade qualification such as a Fitter & Turner or Boilermaker

• Clear verbal and written skills; strong team player

• Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, reliable, punctual, and well-presented 

• Current driver’s license.
