Casual Boating Trainer

Pacific Boating is Sydney’s premier boat-sharing membership. Members pay a monthly subscription to use a fleet of 19 Sea Ray luxury sports cruisers across two locations, Sydney Boat House at Rozelle and The Quays Marina at Church Point. We handle everything: maintenance, insurance, cleaning and preparation. We’ve been operating for more than 20 years and are the largest business of our type in Australia.

Most members join us without much boating behind them. Turning them into safe, confident skippers is the whole job.

The key area of member training is to ensure all Pacific Boating members receive the highest level of training to ensure they are competent and confident to skipper Pacific Boating vessels. Pacific Boating is recognised by members, the community and its employees as a company that offers a high level of training to its members. Critical to Pacific Boating is having experienced staff on the frontline to maintain and enhance excellent member service.

A Trainer at Pacific Boating is responsible for delivering a comprehensive training programme to members through a well developed knowledge of vessel operation and the Pacific Boating fleet.

In this role, you will have strong communication skills, excellent seamanship skills and attention to detail along with a demonstrated commitment to Pacific Boating values to achieve the organisation’s core purpose of providing the ultimate boating experience for its members.

• Ensure and provide a high standard of member and client service at Pacific Boating by displaying friendly, responsive, courteous and effective communication to all members.

• Ensure members receive accurate and consistent information and assistance following the training programme and ensure all member needs are identified and met.

• Deliver all member training programmes.

• Recognise when additional training is required by members.

• Develop and maintain strong knowledge of features and benefits of the Pacific Boating membership programme to enhance the relationship with members and actively satisfy their needs, resulting in longer member retention through improving member usage of the fleet.

• Communicate efficiently and effectively with management and other staff members of Pacific Boating

• Demonstrate a sound knowledge in all products and services associated with Pacific Boating

• Work autonomously and within a team based working environment

• Act with personal and professional integrity

• Demonstrate a commitment to Pacific Boating culture and values

• Be flexible and adaptable to changing work hours and location

You’re a strong boat handler with the patience to teach. You hold at least a NSW recreational boat licence, ideally higher. You explain things in plain words, stay calm when a member is nervous on the helm, and keep accurate records without being chased. Comfortable on a computer, enough to learn our systems quickly.

Essential:

• Recreational boat licence or higher

• Drivers licence

• Strong communication skills

• Ability to deliver excellent levels of member service

• Well developed numeracy and literacy skills

• Demonstrated understanding of the organisation’s values

• Computer literacy and the ability to learn the company’s operating systems

Desirable:

• Previous training experience
