Inquest Support Officer

This is a fixed term, full time vacancy available until 30 June 2027 with the possibility of extension and/or permanency, subject to business requirements.

The Inquest Support Officer provides administrative and paralegal support to Counsel Assisting at the Coroner’s Court. Support includes assisting with case management, document and hearing coordination, preparing inquest material, stakeholder engagement and offering other procedural support throughout the inquest lifecycle as required.

In addition, the position provides advice on Coroner’s Court practice and procedures to a range of stakeholders; and will exercise all statutory powers as a Coroner’s Registrar as prescribed in the Coroners Act 1996 and delegated by the State Coroner.

Suitability Requirements

Through the recruitment process, we will be looking for candidates who can demonstrate skills, experience and attributes in relation to the following:

4. Exemplifies Personal Integrity and Self-Awareness: An ability to; listen when own ideas are challenged, provide accurate advice to colleagues and clients and to check and confirm the accuracy of information prior to release, take responsibility for mistakes and learn from them.
5. Communicates and Influences Effectively: A demonstrated ability to; structure messages clearly and succinctly orally and in writing, focus on gaining a clear understanding of others comments by listening and questioning for clarity.

Eligibility

To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.
