Construction Manager – Sydney

The Opportunity

Concrete Partnerships is exclusively representing a highly regarded, multi award-winning principal building contractor in the appointment of an experienced Construction Manager to join its Sydney leadership team.

It is an opportunity to lead a construction business unit, influence how major projects are secured, structured and delivered, and take genuine ownership of a significant portfolio within one of the more exciting emerging contractors in the Australian construction market.

The business is already operating firmly within the Tier 2 construction market and continuing its progression towards the upper Tier 2 space, supported by an accomplished leadership team, sophisticated systems and a secure pipeline of carefully selected projects.

Its portfolio encompasses complex high-rise residential, medium-density, mixed-use and boutique apartment developments, including major projects valued up to and beyond $150M.

The successful individual will assume leadership across approximately 2–5 concurrent projects, supported by experienced Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, commercial teams and site leadership.

Importantly, your involvement will begin well before construction commences.

Working alongside an accomplished executive, commercial and pre-construction leadership team, you will play an influential role throughout ECI, buildability, methodology, programming, procurement strategy, risk and project establishment, before maintaining executive oversight through construction and successful completion.

The Role

This appointment carries genuine responsibility, autonomy and influence across the construction function.

You will:

• Lead, mentor and develop Senior Project Managers, Project Managers and senior delivery teams

• Maintain executive oversight across multiple concurrent major projects

• Provide leadership throughout ECI, pre-construction and project establishment

• Influence buildability, methodology, programming and procurement strategy

• Drive performance across safety, programme, quality and commercial outcomes

• Identify project risk early and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented

• Ensure project teams are appropriately structured, resourced and supported

• Build trusted relationships with clients, developers, consultants and key stakeholders

• Work collaboratively with Commercial, Pre-Construction and Executive leadership

• Establish consistency, accountability and high-performance standards across the portfolio

• Mentor future leaders and continue developing capability within the construction team

• Contribute to broader operational strategy and the continued evolution of the business

About You

We are interested in speaking with accomplished construction leaders who have built their careers within respected Tier 1, Tier 2 or high-performing Tier 3 principal contractors.

You may currently be operating as a Construction Manager, Construction Director, Project Director or senior operational leader and have reached the point where your next move needs to offer more than simply another portfolio of projects.

Ideally, you will bring:

• Extensive experience delivering major residential and mixed-use developments

• Proven leadership across multiple projects and senior project teams

• Experience delivering complex projects valued into and beyond the $100M range

• Strong ECI and pre-construction capability

• Excellent construction methodology and buildability knowledge

• Strong commercial and contractual awareness

• Sophisticated programme, procurement and risk management capability

• A demonstrated ability to build, lead and mentor high-performing teams

• Exceptional client and stakeholder management skills

• A calm, accountable and solutions-focused leadership style

• Uncompromising standards around safety, quality and project delivery
