About the role
The Role
Joint Capabilities Group (JCG) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Governance Officer to support the delivery of effective governance outcomes across the Group. The role will require demonstrated experience in planning, performance reporting, audit management and compliance.
The Governance Officer will contribute to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the JCG governance plan, policies and procedures that align with Defence requirements and strategic objectives. The successful candidate will provide high-quality technical advice, exercising sound judgement and initiative in interpreting policy and applying governance processes.
With a strong focus on stakeholder engagement, the Governance Officer will build and maintain productive relationships across Defence and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders to address both routine and complex governance matters. The role requires the ability to identify emerging issues, anticipate stakeholder needs, and deliver responsive, practical solutions that support JCG and wider Defence outcomes.
About our Team
JCG Headquarters provides high level support to the Group Head, the Chief of Joint Capabilities (CJC), by directing and coordinating Group operations across a range of functions. JCG Headquarters works closely with the JCG Functional Commands and with other Groups and Services to contribute to JCG and Defence outcomes.
The position will work as part of the Business Operations team within JCG Headquarters. The Business Operations team manages the following functions - Risk and Governance, Business and Resource Management, Finance and Contracting and Procurement.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate is someone who has demonstrated experience in governance, planning, performance reporting, audit management, and compliance. You will be accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex governance work within an integrated workforce.
You must have the ability to attain knowledge of legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements. You must be able to build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and provide advice and assistance on complex governance matters in accordance with relevant policy and procedures.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, have the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities while remaining flexible in a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will display strong personal drive and integrity.
EligibilitySecurity Clearance:
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.
