Assistant Manager, Governance and Secretariat

This is an opportunity to play an important role in supporting good decision-making, strong governance and effective oversight across the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (Cth) (CDPP). You will work closely with CDPP’s senior executives and a broad range of stakeholders, providing advice and bringing together the information, people and processes needed to support sound outcomes.

The work is varied and will require sound judgement, initiative and the confidence to raise issues, provide constructive advice and help find a way forward.

In addition to meeting the Integrated Leadership System profile of the Executive Level 1 primary outcomes and accountabilities will involve:  

• Counseling in relation to the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and associated Rule, Commonwealth Performance Framework; 
• Managing the CDPP’s Governance Frameworks, related policies, key documentation (such as calendars, terms of reference and registers) and board management systems; 
• Providing professional secretariat services, coordination and support to key governance committees, including the Executive Committee and Information Governance Committee; 
• Developing, delivering and quality assuring reports for key stakeholders including the Executive Committee; 
• Providing operational support and specialist advice on all aspects related to areas of responsibility in accordance with relevant legislation, policy and procedures; 
• Undertaking complex problem solving and providing issues management for internal and external stakeholders; 
• Contributing to and supporting the development and improvement of strategies, systems, procedures, policies and/or practices addressing future agency and stakeholder needs;  
• Supporting the broader Governance, Performance and Planning Team to deliver parliamentary related functions (including Senate Estimates and Questions on Notice), Corporate Plan, Annual Report, and performance reporting; and 
• Working collaboratively with the Branch leadership team to deliver on broader objectives. 

• The ability to obtain/maintain satisfactory National Police Check and AGSVA Baseline security clearance 
• Australian Citizenship

Experience & Qualifications:

• Specialist knowledge and experience in governance, planning and performance related activities and frameworks;
• Experience, preferably in a public sector environment, across most of the areas covered by the position, with the demonstrated ability to quickly acquire knowledge for the remaining areas; and 
• Relevant tertiary and/or other qualifications desirable.
