Funeral Industry – Hearse Driver

Personal Services Australia is seeking a reliable, professional and well-presented Hearse Driver to join our team at our Smeaton Grange site.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the safe, respectful and professional operation of our hearses while transporting deceased persons and supporting funeral services across Sydney and surrounding areas.

This is a client-facing role requiring a high level of professionalism, discretion and attention to detail. You will work closely with a variety of Funeral Directors and funeral service providers and will be expected to represent Personal Services Australia in a respectful and professional manner at all times.

The position is predominantly based at Smeaton Grange, however travel to other locations across Sydney Metro and Regional NSW may be required as directed.

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

• Safely and professionally driving single and double cab hearses

• Transporting deceased persons to and from funeral homes, churches, crematoriums, cemeteries, mortuaries and other locations

• Working alongside a variety of Funeral Directors and funeral service providers

• Assisting with the loading and unloading of coffins and deceased persons

• Ensuring the hearse is presented in a clean, polished and professional condition at all times

• Conducting basic vehicle checks and reporting any maintenance or safety issues

• Ensuring vehicles are operated in accordance with road laws, workplace procedures and company standards

• Maintaining a respectful, discreet and compassionate manner when dealing with Funeral Directors, families and members of the public

• Arriving at scheduled locations on time and allowing sufficient time for preparation and travel

• Assisting crew members with funeral transfers and other reasonable duties as required

• Maintaining a high standard of personal presentation and professional conduct

Essential

• Current NSW Full Driver Licence

• Clean driving record

• Proven experience driving both single and double cab hearses

• Professional, well-presented and courteous manner

• Ability to work with a wide variety of Funeral Directors and adapt to different funeral service requirements

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to remain calm, respectful and professional in sensitive situations

• High level of discretion and confidentiality

• Good general fitness and ability to assist with coffins and funeral equipment when required

• Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
