The Coordinator of Enrichment and Extension (Middle School) will promote and develop a challenging learning environment, maximising educational options for students. It extends its focus to those identified as having high-ability by providing enrichment opportunities both in and beyond the classroom and School. The role is part of the Inclusive Education Team, reporting to the Head of Inclusive Education (ELC -Year 12) and Head of Inclusive Education (Middle School).
About the RoleThis role will be responsible for advocating and providing practical support differentiation of high-ability needs in the mainstream curriculum, while working alongside relevant staff.
Key Responsibilities include:Lead and review an Evidence Based Identification Program that includes a transparent, consistent and systematic process of assessment of high-ability students, using multiple, well-communicated and documented selection criteria.Design and implement an effective scope and sequence for Enrichment and Extension, Years 7 – 10, indicating all opportunities offered across year levels, that promotes and develops critical thinking dispositions and operations, philosophical problems and provocations, executive functioning skills and routines, social-emotional learning and problem solving, that is flexible in its implementation according to progress made.As outlined by the Enrichment and Extension Scope and Sequence, coordinate and manage a variety of evidence-based programming options that challenge the performance of high-ability students.In collaboration with relevant staff, coordinate the timetabling of extension lessons.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will be well-versed in contemporary developments in the field of Gifted Education and Inclusive Education and able to research, develop and lead change in this area.
