Kitchen Hand

For more than 50 years, Brompton Children’s Centre & Preschool Inc. has been a trusted part of the inner north‑west community - a place where children explore, learn and grow in beautiful natural play spaces supported by a warm, multicultural team.

We are seeking a Kitchen Hand to join our dedicated staff and support our experienced Cook in delivering nutritious meals. This role is perfect for someone who values community, enjoys working in a child‑focused environment, and takes pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming kitchen.

You will work consistent daytime hours, with the ability to cover full kitchen shifts during annual leave or sick leave.

Proposed roster: 

·         Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday – 10:00am to 1:00pm

·         Wednesday – 8:30am to 2:00pm

·         Occasional periods of covering leave

Your responsibilities will include:

·         Assisting with daily meal and snack preparation

·         Supporting allergy management and dietary requirements

·         Maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety

·         Helping with menu planning and kitchen organisation

·         Ensuring safe food handling, storage and temperature checks

·         Contributing to a positive, respectful and inclusive team culture 

Skills and experience 

·         Food Safety Supervisor Certificate

·         HLTFSE001, HLTFSE005, HLTFSE007

·         Experience in a childcare, OSHC, school or commercial kitchen

·         Knowledge of early childhood nutrition

·         Allergy‑aware food preparation

·         Strong hygiene and food safety practices

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·         Reliable, organised and committed to high standards

·         Experience preparing meals for large groups

·         A genuine passion for supporting children’s health and wellbeing·
