About the roleTAFE NSW is partnering with the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) to deliver a workforce capability initiative under the NSW Domestic and Family Violence Workforce Strategy. This important program aims to strengthen workforce capacity across the domestic and family violence sector by creating targeted pathways for new entrants, existing workers and students transitioning into the field.
We are seeking an experienced Assessor - Community Services to support the assessment and recognition of learner capability across a statewide cohort. Working closely with Teachers, Head Teachers and project stakeholders, you will undertake assessment activities, review evidence, conduct Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessments and contribute to positive learner outcomes.
This role is ideal for a community services professional with strong assessment expertise and a passion for supporting workforce development within a critical human services sector.
Success in this role requires excellent organisational skills, confidence using digital platforms and the ability to communicate effectively with learners from diverse backgrounds. You will be committed to maintaining current industry knowledge and ensuring assessment practices are relevant, evidence-based and aligned to sector needs.
This is a temporary part-time position (17.5 hours per week), with a location negotiable across TAFE NSW sites statewide. Travel required and flexibility regarding working days.
Note: This role does not teach or deliver training.
About you You are an experienced community services professional with strong vocational knowledge and assessment expertise. You understand the importance of quality assessment in supporting workforce capability and student success.
You have experience assessing competency within a vocational education environment and are confident evaluating evidence, making professional judgements and providing constructive feedback. Your collaborative approach, attention to detail and commitment to learner success enable you to support candidates from a wide range of backgrounds.You bring strong communication skills, excellent judgement and a commitment to culturally responsive and trauma-informed practice.
To be successful in the role, you will have the following:A Diploma or higher qualification in Community Services, Social Work, Social Science, Mental Health, Domestic and Family Violence, Human Services, or a related field.Evidence of holding the appropriate qualifications to assess Vocational Education and Training. See the candidate support document here for details.Demonstrated experience conducting vocational assessments, including the assessment of workplace evidence and competency against nationally recognised training package requirements.Knowledge of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) principles and assessment practices.Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy, quality and compliance requirements.Commitment to maintaining industry currency and assessor competence.
