About the roleTAFE NSW is partnering with the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) to deliver a workforce capability initiative under the NSW Domestic and Family Violence Workforce Strategy. This important program aims to strengthen workforce capacity across the domestic and family violence sector by creating targeted pathways for new entrants, existing workers and students transitioning into the field.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Teacher of Community Services with specialist expertise. In this unique role, you will contribute to the delivery of training, stakeholder engagement, learner mentoring and workforce development activities that support a statewide cohort of learners.
Working within a collaborative project environment, you will play a key role in building a skilled, capable and culturally responsive workforce that can make a meaningful impact in communities across NSW.
This is a temporary full-time position based at Granville Campus, with occasional travel required to support workshop delivery and stakeholder engagement activities across NSW.
About YouYou are an experienced educator and industry professional with a strong background working in domestic and family violence, and community services practice. You are passionate about supporting learners and helping build workforce capability within this critical sector.
You bring extensive experience in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment, combined with a strong understanding of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice. Your ability to engage with diverse learners, collaborate with stakeholders and translate industry expertise into meaningful learning experiences enables you to make a lasting impact.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
A Diploma or higher in a relevant field such as Social Science, Community Services, Mental Health, Social Work.Evidence of the required teaching qualification to deliver Vocational Education and Training (VET). See the candidate support document here for details.Demonstrated experience in VET, including contextualised delivery, assessment and learner support and recent industry experience within domestic and family violence, community services, mental health or related human services sectors.Extensive experience in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment, including developing assessment tools, mapping evidence, validating assessment decisions, and assessing candidates against nationally recognised competency standards.Experience applying trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches especially in the context of domestic, family violence and child protection.Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with government agencies, community organisations and industry partners.Experience supporting learner recruitment, engagement and mentoring, particularly for diverse cohorts including First Nations communities, migrants and refugees.Ability to work independently while contributing to project reporting, evaluation and continuous improvement activities.
