About the role

Eacham Medical Centre is seeking a dedicated and organised Medical Receptionist to join our team on a casual basis. This is a critical front-line position that plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our medical practice. Located in Malanda, QLD, this role offers the flexibility of casual work whilst contributing meaningfully to the healthcare services we provide to our community. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, managing appointments, patient records, and administrative tasks with professionalism and compassion.

What you'll be doing

• Greeting patients and visitors with warmth and professionalism, creating a welcoming environment

• Scheduling and confirming patient appointments using medical practice management software

• Managing patient intake forms and maintaining accurate electronic and physical medical records in compliance with privacy regulations

• Processing patient payments and handling billing inquiries with accuracy and sensitivity

• Answering telephone inquiries and directing calls to appropriate medical staff members

• Coordinating referrals and communicating with other healthcare providers as required

• Maintaining a clean, organised reception area and ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols

• Supporting medical staff with administrative tasks, including document preparation and filing

• Managing patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with health privacy legislation

What we're looking for

• Previous experience working as a medical receptionist or in a similar administrative healthcare role

• Proficiency with medical practice management software and general computer applications

• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively

• Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal, with exceptional customer service skills

• Knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of healthcare administrative processes

• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data security

• A calm, patient demeanor with the ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy

• Flexibility to work casual hours as required by the practice

• Current understanding of relevant health privacy legislation, such as the Privacy Act
