Medical Receptionist

About the role

Moreton Bay Medical Centre is seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our team on a casual basis. This is an essential frontline position based at our Kippa-Ring QLD 4021 clinic. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, playing a crucial role in creating a welcoming and efficient environment. This position is vital to the smooth operation of our practice and directly impacts patient satisfaction and clinic productivity.

What you'll be doing

• Greeting patients in a professional and courteous manner upon arrival at the clinic

• Managing patient check-ins and verifying personal and insurance information

• Scheduling appointments and managing the appointment diary to optimise clinic efficiency

• Handling patient enquiries by phone, email and in person with professionalism and empathy

• Processing patient payments and handling cash and card transactions accurately

• Maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to privacy legislation at all times

• Assisting with patient record management and filing documentation appropriately

• Supporting clinical staff by preparing consultation rooms and ensuring all necessary materials are available

• Communicating effectively with medical practitioners and clinical staff regarding patient needs

• Managing waiting areas and maintaining a clean, welcoming reception environment

What we're looking for

• Previous experience working as a General Practice medical receptionist minimum 1 Year

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse patients

• Proficiency in using computer systems and medical practice management software

• Excellent organisational and time management abilities to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressure

• Knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of healthcare procedures

• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and understanding of privacy laws such as the Privacy Act

• Customer service orientation with empathy and patience for patients of all backgrounds

• Reliable and professional demeanour with a genuine interest in supporting patient care

• Ideally, experience or familiarity with common medical practice software systems
