About the role

SC Family Dental Clinic is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis. Based in Rowville, VIC 3178, this role is fundamental to delivering exceptional patient care and supporting our dental practitioners in providing high-quality oral healthcare services. As a Dental Assistant, you will be the backbone of our clinical operations, ensuring smooth patient experiences and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and clinical support.

What you'll be doing

• Assisting dentists during clinical procedures by passing instruments, managing suction, and providing direct chairside support

• Preparing treatment rooms, sterilising instruments, and maintaining infection control protocols in accordance with dental standards

• Taking and processing dental radiographs (X-rays) in compliance with radiation safety guidelines

• Welcoming patients, managing appointment scheduling, and maintaining patient records with accuracy and confidentiality

• Educating patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions

• Assisting with reception duties, including patient check-ins, payments, and general administrative tasks

• Supporting the dental team in maintaining a clean, organised, and professional clinical environment

• Preparing materials and equipment for procedures and ensuring adequate stock levels

What we're looking for

• Completion of a recognised Dental Assistant qualification or equivalent training (optional)

• Experience working as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting (preferred but not essential for enthusiastic candidates)

• Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and clinical protocols

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to infection control and sterilisation standards

• Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment and manage multiple tasks

• Proficiency with dental software and computer systems (advantageous)

• Current certification in First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain)

• A professional attitude, reliability, and commitment to patient care excellence
