About the role

DS Dental Specialists is seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic dental practice located in Bundoora, VIC 3083. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our dental specialists and ensuring that patients receive exceptional care in a welcoming and professional environment. This position is essential to the smooth operation of our practice and directly contributes to delivering outstanding patient experiences and treatment outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Assisting dental specialists during procedures, including preparing instruments, passing instruments, and managing patient comfort

• Preparing and sterilising dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection control protocols and industry standards

• Taking and developing dental radiographs (X-rays) as required and under the supervision of qualified dental professionals

• Recording patient treatment information accurately and maintaining comprehensive patient records

• Providing chairside support and patient education to ensure comfort and understanding of treatment procedures

• Maintaining a clean and organised treatment environment, including sterilisation of instruments and disposal of clinical waste

• Supporting the dental team in delivering high-quality patient care and maintaining professional standards

• Assisting occasionally with reception duties as required, including answering enquiries and scheduling appointments

What we're looking for

• A recognised Dental Assistant qualification or equivalent, such as a Certificate IV in Dental Assisting or relevant training from an accredited provider

• Current registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) or eligibility for registration as a Dental Assistant

• Knowledge of infection control procedures, sterilisation protocols and occupational health and safety requirements in dental practices

• Competency in chairside assisting techniques and familiarity with dental instruments and equipment

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with dental professionals, patients and colleagues

• Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

• A professional and empathetic approach to patient care and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality

• Experience in radiography techniques is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided

• Experience working in a specialist dental practice is advantageous

• Reliability, punctuality and the ability to work as part of a dedicated team
