Duty Manager – Bert’s City Beach

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Duty Manager to join the team at Bert's City Beach. This is a full-time position based in City Beach, Western Australia. As Duty Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our hospitality venue, ensuring exceptional service delivery, maintaining high standards of quality and safety, and creating a welcoming environment for our guests. This role is pivotal to the success of our establishment and requires a dynamic leader capable of managing staff, customers and operational challenges with professionalism and confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Overseeing daily operations and ensuring the venue runs smoothly during your shifts, maintaining consistency with company standards and policies

• Managing and supervising staff members, including scheduling, training, performance management and creating a positive working environment

• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, liquor licensing laws and all relevant hospitality industry requirements

• Handling customer service issues and complaints professionally, resolving conflicts and maintaining guest satisfaction

• Managing cash handling, point-of-sale systems and financial reconciliation procedures

• Monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies and managing inventory to minimise waste and control costs

• Maintaining venue cleanliness, presentation and adherence to food safety standards

• Opening and closing procedures, including security checks and alarm management

• Communicating effectively with management regarding operational issues, guest feedback and performance metrics

• Implementing promotional activities and special events as directed by senior management

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working as a Duty Manager or similar supervisory role within the hospitality, pub or restaurant industry

• Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams

• Excellent customer service abilities and a genuine commitment to creating positive guest experiences

• Knowledge of health, safety and liquor licensing regulations relevant to the hospitality sector

• Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and basic financial management

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work under pressure, multi-task effectively and remain calm in busy environments

• A responsible approach to alcohol service and duty of care

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required

• Current Food Handling Certificate is highly desirable

• RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification required
