About Us
Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service. Servicing the communities of Cape York, with the main office is located in Cairns, Apunipima delivers public health care, and social and emotional well-being care, to community members. Being a part of the team at Apunipima means helping us deliver essential services as well as building capacity in communities to manage their own health care needs.
About the Opportunity
This is a fixed term position ending on the 30 June 2027.
The Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner – Cancer Care is responsible for delivering comprehensive cancer care support services within a primary health care multidisciplinary team, consistent with the Apunipima Way and Model of Care. This position acts as a role model in the provision of culturally safe, holistic care, which aims to:
Aid in the screening, early detection and effective support of cancer management of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Cape York communities
Guide clients through the healthcare system to access screening and treatment
The above is an Identified position. It is a genuine occupational requirement that an Identified position be filled by an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, as permitted by and arguable under section 25, 104 and 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act (1991).
