Banking & Finance Law Student Paralegal

We are looking to add a new Law Student Paralegal working 20 hours per week.

We are a virtual firm that specialises in acting on commercial mortgage advances throughout Australia. With a premium reputation forged over 25 years, we are known for our expertise in our field.

Although we have a small physical office in North Sydney, we are in essence a virtual firm. We achieve this using Actionstep, Google, DocuSign, PEXA and other cloud-based applications.

This is a work from home position. We have built our firm to allow for maximum flexibility, the least amount of stress and the highest possible paycheck.

Working from home allows you to run errands, study, go to lectures and sit exams while you do an hour here, an hour there, and check your email. You save two hours a day on the commute. That gives you the ability to hold down a well paid 20 hour a week job without burning the candle at both ends.

We stopped hiring law students fifteen years ago and moved to full-time offshore law clerks. The reason was simple: by the time you briefed a law student on what needed to be done in the next hour, they were off to two hours of lectures. They could not compete with someone across the file all day. It was a great shame, because we lost our pipeline for junior lawyers.

The tables have now turned. AI can brief our juniors on everything happening on a matter. Not only does it brief you on the facts, it briefs you on the law and on our procedures. What is left is decisions, decisions, decisions and client contact. You are the human in the loop. It is as if you have the ghost of the fastest legal secretary in history trapped in your computer, sitting alongside the most expert banking and finance lawyer you will ever meet. Neither of them can take credit for the work, neither can talk with the client, so it has to be you.

• Two to three Associates
