About The Role

The Spirited Goat is seeking an experienced and motivated Breakfast Chef to join our busy kitchen team at Otto’s Market Precinct.

This is a hands-on position suited to a confident chef who enjoys working in a fast-paced, high-volume breakfast environment and can consistently deliver quality food while maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness and kitchen organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook breakfast and brunch menu items to a consistently high standard.
• Efficiently manage breakfast service during busy and high-volume periods.
• Complete all required preparation and mise en place prior to service.
• Ensure food is prepared, cooked and presented in accordance with established menu and venue standards.
• Follow recipes, cooking procedures and presentation requirements consistently.
• Maintain appropriate portion control and minimise food waste.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency and presentation.
• Ensure all food is stored, labelled, handled and prepared in accordance with food safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen throughout preparation and service.
• Monitor stock levels and communicate stock and preparation requirements to management.
• Assist with stock rotation and general kitchen organisation.
• Work collaboratively with other kitchen team members and front-of-house staff.
• Assist with general kitchen duties, cleaning and close-down procedures as required.
• Comply with all workplace health and safety, food safety and operational requirements.
• Contribute to a positive, professional and respectful kitchen environment.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Previous experience as a chef, preferably within a busy breakfast, brunch, café or high-volume kitchen environment.
• Strong breakfast cooking and preparation skills.
• The ability to confidently manage high-volume service.
• The ability to work efficiently and independently while also contributing effectively to a small team.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to food quality.
• A sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
• The ability to remain calm, organised and professional under pressure.
• A reliable and punctual approach to work.
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• The ability to follow established recipes, procedures and standards.
• Flexibility and availability to work weekends and varying shifts.

Shift Requirements

The role primarily involves early morning and daytime breakfast shifts, including weekends.

The successful applicant must be available to work a variable roster, including weekends and public holidays when required.
