High School Teacher’s Aide

Kesser Torah College (KTC) is a thriving Chabad Orthodox Jewish Day School situated in Dover Heights in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. Catering to over 600 boys and girls from Early Learning through to Year 12, KTC provides an integrated education that balances a rigorous academic curriculum with comprehensive Jewish studies. KTC is seeking a compassionate, patient and enthusiastic Teacher's Aide to join our High School team, supporting students who need extra academic help.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Head of Learning Enhancement, mathematics and science teachers, learning support staff, and the wellbeing team to help students reach their full potential.

This is a full-time position starting ASAP for Term 3 and 4 2026, with potential for extension.

The successful applicant will:

• Have a sound working knowledge of High School mathematics and the confidence to explain concepts clearly to students who are struggling

• Be passionate about working with adolescents and supporting their academic, social and emotional growth, particularly in mathematics

• Have a warm, calm and patient manner, particularly when supporting students who may be dysregulated, anxious, or finding maths challenging

• Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and families

• Have demonstrated experience supporting students with additional needs, including students with neurodiverse profiles

• Be able to follow support plans, teacher direction and wellbeing strategies consistently

• Have strong organisational and administrative skills, including the ability to maintain required documentation in line with school processes

• Demonstrate a positive, practical and solution-focused approach to problem-solving, particularly when a student is stuck on a concept

• Be able to work collaboratively as part of a team, including the Head of Learning Enhancement, mathematics and science teachers, and wellbeing staff

• Be willing to support the Jewish and religious ethos of the College

• Adhere to the College's Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct at all times

• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  

Student Support:

You will assist students in the classroom and in small group settings, providing tailored support to help them engage with mathematics content, build confidence and stay on track with their learning. This may include working one-on-one with students, reinforcing concepts taught by the classroom teacher, and adapting support to suit individual learning needs.

Additional Needs and Wellbeing Support:

A key part of the role involves supporting students who may require assistance with emotional regulation, social interactions, behaviour, executive functioning, sensory needs, anxiety, communication, or other areas of development. This may include helping students use regulation strategies, follow visual supports, take breaks appropriately, re-engage in learning, and navigate peer interactions.

Team Collaboration:

You will work closely with teachers, learning support staff, wellbeing staff and other aides to ensure students receive consistent and coordinated support throughout the school day.

Observation and Record Keeping:

The role includes observing student behaviour, engagement and progress, and documenting relevant information in accordance with school processes.

Qualifications and Experience:

A sound working knowledge of High School mathematics is essential, along with the confidence to explain concepts clearly and patiently to students who are struggling. Previous experience in educational support, learning support, disability support, psychology, counselling, behaviour support, or a related field would be highly regarded. Strong interpersonal skills, patience, flexibility and a genuine care for children are essential.
