Vietnamese-Speaking Physiotherapist – Community Aged Care

Allegiance Heart & Home Care is seeking a compassionate, professional and experienced Vietnamese-speaking Physiotherapist to provide community-based physiotherapy services to older people receiving support in their own homes.

This role is ideal for a Physiotherapist who values person-centred care and enjoys helping older adults maintain their mobility, strength, confidence, safety and independence.

The successful applicant will work with clients in their home environment and collaborate with families, care managers and other health professionals to support each client’s individual goals.

Key Responsibilities

The Physiotherapist will be responsible for providing assessment, treatment and ongoing review of older clients with a range of mobility, balance and functional needs.

Responsibilities may include:

• Completing comprehensive physiotherapy assessments in the client’s home
• Assessing mobility, gait, balance, strength, endurance and functional capacity
• Identifying falls risks and developing appropriate falls-prevention strategies
• Developing individualised exercise and mobility programs
• Providing strength, balance and conditioning exercises
• Supporting safe transfers and functional movement
• Providing mobility and gait retraining
• Reviewing the use of mobility aids and recommending appropriate equipment where required
• Monitoring changes in physical function and mobility
• Educating clients and family members about safe mobility, exercise and falls prevention
• Encouraging clients to maintain independence with everyday activities
• Working collaboratively with Occupational Therapists, GPs, nurses, support workers and other allied health professionals
• Providing recommendations to the care management team where additional support or equipment may be required
• Completing clear, accurate and timely clinical notes following each visit
• Providing progress reports and recommendations when requested
• Escalating significant changes in a client’s mobility, health or safety to the appropriate care manager
• Maintaining professional boundaries and providing services in accordance with relevant clinical and professional standards

About the Clients

The role involves supporting older people living in the community who may experience:

• Reduced mobility
• Reduced strength and endurance
• Balance difficulties
• Increased falls risk
• Difficulty with transfers
• Age-related physical decline
• Musculoskeletal conditions
• Cognitive changes
• Reduced confidence with walking
• Deconditioning following illness or hospitalisation

Some clients may require a slower, more supportive communication approach, and the ability to communicate in Vietnamese will assist with providing culturally appropriate and effective care.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

• Current AHPRA registration as a Physiotherapist
• Relevant recognised Physiotherapy qualification
• Professional indemnity insurance
• Public liability insurance where applicable
• Current National Police Check
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Valid Australian driver’s licence
• Reliable vehicle suitable for community-based work
• Appropriate vehicle insurance
• Current working rights in Australia
• Ability to communicate effectively in Vietnamese and English
• Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently in clients’ homes
• Good time-management and organisational skills
