Refrigeration / Applications Engineer –Refrigeration Systems

We are seeking an Applications Engineer with extensive experience in refrigeration system design and construction who can bring technical expertise in across different refrigeration systems, Australian Standards compliance and experience in working within a manufacturing environment.  This is a role for someone who has already designed and delivered Transcritical CO₂ and other natural-refrigerant systems and wants to influence both product design and production outcomes.

The opportunity

• Translate customer specifications into optimised system solutions, focusing on Transcritical CO₂ and other natural refrigerants.

• Design and engineer BITZER Value-Added packages (compressors, pipework, pressure vessels, frames and heat exchangers) to Australian Standards and company design control procedures.

• Produce detailed P&IDs, Bills of Materials, manufacturing drawings and documentation ready for production.

• Own design control, cost monitoring and continuous improvement of the product portfolio with a clear focus on manufacturability and margin.

• Work closely with Sales, Production and Engineering to ensure designs move smoothly from concept into our modern manufacturing facility.

• Maintain Operation & Maintenance manuals and support the full product lifecycle.

What we are looking for

• Extensive experience in commercial or industrial refrigeration system design and construction, with demonstrated expertise in Transcritical CO₂ and other natural refrigerant systems.

• Strong working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards (particularly AS/NZS 5149, pressure vessel and piping codes) and the practical application of these standards in design and manufacturing.

• Proven ability to take designs from concept through detailed engineering into a production environment.

• Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Refrigeration Technology or related) plus solid industry experience.

• Excellent technical communication, attention to detail and a collaborative approach.
