About the role
What You'll Be Doing
As the Capability Development Specialist, you will collaborate with stakeholders to understand business and capability needs, provide expert advice and design tailored learning solutions that are practical and outcome focused.
You Will
Act as a trusted advisor, shaping learning programs that support leadership, career development, culture and organisational capabilityProvide advice to stakeholders on capability needs and learning solutions that support organisational successConsult with stakeholders and design innovative learning experiences using contemporary methodologies, including eLearning, virtual, digital and facilitator-led deliveryCoordinate capability initiatives and projects, bringing stakeholders together through workshops, focus groups and pilot activitiesMonitor and communicate project progress, risks and issues, and contribute to business case development and continuous improvement initiativesBuild strong relationships with stakeholders and external partners to identify opportunities and stay informed on best practice and emerging trendsDrive continuous improvement across learning systems, processes and reporting to support an exceptional learning experience
This is a permanent role based in Newcastle.

What You'll Bring
To be successful in the role of Capability Development Specialist, you'll bring experience in Learning and Development, Capability or HR, with a sound understanding of the employee lifecycle. You'll be a collaborative and solutions-focused professional who enjoys working across a range of projects and partnering with stakeholders to deliver meaningful capability outcomes.
Your Background Will Demonstrate Your
Strong stakeholder engagement, consultation and facilitation skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, provide advice and influence outcomesWell-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify capability needs and recommend practical solutionsStrong project coordination skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, challenge assumptions, recommend fit-for-purpose capability solutions, and effectively manage competing prioritiesExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to prepare reports, correspondence and business documentationA proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work autonomously, exercise sound judgement and communicate risks, issues and opportunitiesExperience using learning technologies, learning management systems and contemporary digital tools to support capability development
Technical Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Suite, including Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and SharePoint (essential), and associated applications such as Confluence, JIRA, and Tableau (preferred)Proficient in use of learning design tools and effective SCORM file management (essential), using Articulate 360, Vyond, ClipChamp, Canva (preferred)Use of Zoom and Microsoft Teams tools to facilitate virtual meetings and classrooms (essential)Effective front and back-end Learning Management System administration (essential), ELMO (preferred)
Qualifications
Certificate IV Training and Assessment or working towards (essential)Kirkpatrick Evaluation Certification (highly desirable)
