About the role
Wentworth Point Public School acknowledges the Wangal people, the Traditional Custodians of the land along the Burramatta River where we live, learn and play each day. Wentworth Point Public School is located on the peninsular of the Parramatta River. The school opened in January 2018 and has experienced significant and rapid changes. Due to the increase in enrolments, the school has undergone a Phase 2 upgrade, which includes the construction of a new four-storey building housing 29 new, contemporary, purpose-built learning spaces, advanced facilities, an enhanced library, and a playground upgrade.
Wentworth Point Public School is a culturally and linguistically diverse community, with families speaking more than 40 languages and dialects. Within our student population, 7 students identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Additionally, 87% of our students come from a language background other than English. The school has an established Support Unit that actively promotes authentic integration and enables all students to access the same academic and social opportunities as their peers.
There is a focus on collaboration to ensure that high-quality education programs are developed, implemented, and aligned with the NSW Plan for Public Education. At Wentworth Point Public School, we follow a "No Award, No Reward" philosophy, which sets us apart from many other schools. Rather than relying on extrinsic awards or reward systems, our approach is built on intrinsic motivation helping students develop pride in their own learning and behaviour because it feels meaningful and purposeful.
Wentworth Point Public School is a proud learning community committed to equity and excellence, where teaching, learning and leadership are driven by purposeful action, informed by student, staff and community voice, and guided by evidence to improve outcomes for every student.
Specific Selection CriteriaApproval to teach K-6 and approval to teach library or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education, with the ability to develop and deliver high-quality release from face-to-face programs.
Proven ability to evaluate, select, acquire, catalogue, and maintain a diverse range of high-quality resources across multiple formats, including digital tools, online databases, and print collections, to support curriculum implementation that is inclusive of Aboriginal Histories and Cultures, High Potential and Gifted Education, and the diverse learning needs of all students.
Well-developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build authentic relationships across the school community.
Knowledge and understanding of culturally sensitive and inclusive teaching practices that foster student engagement, promote positive behaviour and supports successful learning outcomes for all students.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special NotesApplicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.
