The role
Guildford Grammar School is seeking an organised, service-focused Library Officer to join our Preparatory School Library on a fixed term basis (0.8FTE) during Term 4 of 2026 (12 October to 10 December 2026).
Working Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8.00am to 4.00pm, you will support the smooth day-to-day operation of the Library and help provide a welcoming, responsive and high-quality library service for students and staff.
This hands-on role combines library systems and resource management with circulation services, staff and student support, facilities bookings, displays and general library operations.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the School to ensure resources are accessible, well maintained and effectively used.
Key responsibilities
• Coordinate and maintain the automated library system, including reports and usage statistics
• Manage facilities and resource bookings for staff and students
• Order, receive, accession, catalogue, process, stocktake and maintain library resources
• Support circulation services, reference enquiries, shelving, overdue items and student charges
• Assist staff and students to use library applications, digital resources and printing services
• Maintain subscriptions, memberships, stationery, equipment and library displays
• Assist with the daily presentation and operation of the Library, including morning and afternoon play activities
Selection criteria
• An approved library qualification at tertiary or TAFE level
• Experience managing or working with an automated library system
• Strong organisational skills and careful attention to detail
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and service-focused approach
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and the ability to learn library and digital systems
• Initiative, reliability, flexibility and the ability to maintain confidentiality
• A commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality outcomes
• A commitment to the Purpose, Values and Anglican ethos of Guildford Grammar School
Essential requirements
• Current Working with Children Check, or the ability to obtain one.
• Current police clearance
• Proof of right to work in Australia
