Operations Manager – Luxury Beach Property, Zanzibar | Hospitality Manager

Introduction – Hospitality & Zanzibar

Hospitality and Outdoor presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to join a luxury beach property in Zanzibar. This hands-on hospitality position is ideal for an experienced manager with strong operational, financial and leadership capabilities who can oversee the full hotel operation while delivering exceptional guest experiences.

The successful Operations Manager will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the property, leading multiple departments and ensuring high standards across guest service, accommodation, food and beverage, maintenance, finance and overall hotel operations.

Job Requirements – Operations Manager

Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Operations Manager, General Manager or senior hospitality leader.Strong knowledge of full hotel operations, including Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, Maintenance, Security and Guest Services.Proven leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to maintain high guest satisfaction and exceptional service standards.Strong financial understanding, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control and profitability.Excellent English communication skills; an additional foreign language is advantageous.Cultural awareness and sensitivity, preferably with experience in Zanzibar or a comparable environment.Passion for sustainability, local sourcing and community engagement.Flexible and hands-on approach suited to a boutique luxury hospitality environment.Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage a diverse team.

Key Responsibilities – Operations Manager

Oversee all daily hospitality operations and coordinate all departments.Manage bookings, OTA channels, guest communication, check-ins and check-outs.Drive guest satisfaction, resolve complaints and monitor online reviews.Recruit, train, motivate and develop the hotel team.Conduct daily property inspections and maintain quality, cleanliness, maintenance and safety standards.Manage staffing, schedules and departmental performance.Oversee financial administration, budgets, sales reporting, COGS, expenditure and profitability.Develop sales and marketing initiatives targeting family guests.Build relationships with tour operators, excursion providers, local suppliers and community partners.Implement sustainable practices covering waste, water, energy, food and local sourcing.Ensure compliance with employment, health, safety and regulatory requirements.Develop family-friendly activities, experiences, meal options and packages.Work with directors on strategic planning, performance improvement and long-term growth.
