The Role

Comet Bay College is seeking a highly motivated, innovative and proactive individual to join the College Leadership Team as one of three Heads of Student Support.

This role will see you working in close partnership with your Associate Principal Line Manager to collaboratively lead the Student Support Team's successful implementation of key aspects of the 2027 to 2029 College Business and Operational Plans.

As a Head of Student Support the successful applicant should provide exceptional leadership and direction to a team of Year Coordinators, Student Support Clerical Staff, Nurse, Chaplain, Youth Workers, Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO), Defence force mentor and Psychologists. The successful applicant will also ideally be required to work collaboratively with the other Heads of Student Support to implement college programs and initiatives ensuring that members of each team work effectively together. The role will ideally entail the strategic leadership and development of the team ensuring a collaborative, proactive approach that will further improve student behaviour, attendance and enhance the ongoing development of a positive ethos and culture across the College. This leadership will ideally see students at educational risk (SAER), including mental health, tracked and supported from within the College and external agency support identified and allocated at point of need.

The successful applicant will also ideally oversee the coordination and development of Tier 2 intervention programs that focus on student wellbeing.

Key focus areas of the role may include, but are not limited to:

• Lead and coordinate the work of the staff within the Student Support Team to promote and ensure the effective engagement of staff, students and the community with the College Behaviour Management Policy and Guidelines.
• Assist in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the school’s policies and procedures, identify strategies for improvement and formulate appropriate changes
• Provide advice and support to these staff, building morale and professionalism within the team
• Performance and Development of staff
• Lead the successful collaboration between Student Support Team members supporting the College focus on promoting and building a positive culture across the College.
• Build strong school and community links.
• Promote the ethos of the school and to “Seek Excellence”.
• Contribute as a member of the school management team and participate fully in the decision making process
• Promote the exchange of information within the College
