The Role We're looking for Registered Nurses with experience in inpatient mental health and/or forensic mental health services who are passionate about delivering high-quality mental health care. Whether you're already working in forensic mental health or looking to transition from a general inpatient mental health setting, you'll join an experienced multidisciplinary team committed to recovery, therapeutic engagement and clinical excellence.
As a Registered Nurse at the Forensic Hospital, you'll provide assessment, treatment and recovery-focused care for patients with complex mental illness within a secure forensic environment. Working alongside experienced nursing, medical and allied health clinicians, you'll contribute to comprehensive mental health assessments, multidisciplinary care planning and therapeutic interventions that support patient recovery while maintaining safety. Working in forensic mental health will challenge and develop you professionally.
You'll build specialist skills in therapeutic security, trauma-informed care, dynamic risk assessment, de-escalation and managing acute behavioural disturbance, supported by About the Forensic Hospital The Forensic Hospital is unlike anywhere else in NSW Health.
As the state's only high-secure forensic mental health hospital, we care for people with serious mental illness whose treatment requires the careful balance of recovery, therapeutic engagement and dynamic risk management. Our patients present with a unique combination of mental illness, trauma, psychosocial need and behavioural risk. Delivering care in this environment requires sound clinical judgement, strong therapeutic relationships and a multidisciplinary approach that balances recovery with the safety of patients, staff and the broader community.
