Christian Youth Camps is seeking an experienced OH&S person to join our Head Office team in the role of Head of Health Safety and Wellbeing.
About Us:
Christian Youth Camps Ltd (CYC) exists to create opportunities for all people to personally encounter the living God through camping, conferencing, facilities, and programs.
CYC operates 6 campsites, being CYC The Island, CYC Phillip Island Adventure Resort, CYC Forest Edge, CYC Adanac, CYC City and CYC Blue Lagoon.
Across our sites we host schools, churches, and numerous other groups in addition to running outreach holiday camps and offering leadership development programs. These sites are supported by our CEO and Head Office team, based on Phillip Island.

About the Role:
The Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing will work closely with the Head of Operations & Administration to lead and continuously improve systems and culture that promote health, safety, wellbeing and compliance across CYC. Ensuring legal requirements are met and a proactive, positive safety culture is embedded organisation-wide.
Key Duties include:
• Lead the strategic direction of CYC’s Health, Safety & Wellbeing functions in alignment with CYC’s mission, values, and operational goals.
• Collaborate with senior management and site leaders to integrate safety and wellbeing into organisational planning and culture.
• Maintain and continually improve CYC’s OHS Management System, ensuring it is practical, current, and aligned with relevant legislation and best practice.
• Develop and implement initiatives that promote a strong safety culture and meaningful engagement with wellbeing.
• Assisting with reviewing and updating OHS policies and procedures, Risk Assessment and Safe Operating Procedures.
• Assisting with workplace audits and inspections
• Assisting with developing a system of statistical reporting
• Liaise with external authorities e.g. WorkSafe Victoria and Tasmania
• Oversee the implementation of CYC’s Child Safety Policy and ensure alignment with the Victorian and Tasmanian Child Safe Standards.
The successful applicant must have the following:
You will be passionate about health and safety and committed to ensuring that our employees and guests work and play in a safe environment. You can easily build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders but you also thrive on working with systems and processes.
You have previous experience (minimum 2 years) within a similar role or involvement in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g. OH&S Representative) and possess the following:
• Experience in OHS systems. Cert IV or Diploma in OHS highly regarded
• Moderate knowledge of Victoria’s OHS Regulations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail
• Proficient in the use of cloud-based software
• Intermediate to advanced level of MS Office
• Current Driver’s Licence to enable travel to other sites
• The ability to maintain confidentiality
• Be able to use your initiative to achieve work goals
• Work well in a team environment
