Where you'll be working
Join the Population Health Directorate at Cumberland Hospital and play a critical role in protecting and improving the health of communities across Western Sydney. Working within the Public Health Unit, you'll collaborate with experienced environmental health professionals, health agencies and government stakeholders to identify, assess and respond to environmental health risks that impact thousands of people every day.

What You'll Be Doing
As an Environmental Health Officer with the Centre for Population Health at Western Sydney Local Health District, you will work with our community and stakeholders in the Central River City, the heart of Sydney.
You'll work with health services across the district across our 5 hospitals as well as key stakeholders in our Aboriginal communities, local government and universities. This is a rewarding position where you can apply your specialised skills and knowledge of environmental health in a public health unit, ready to respond and support health protection initiatives in NSW.
You will conduct environmental health surveillance activities and investigate environmental health issues through inspections and desktop inquiry as an Authorised Environmental Health Officer. Responding to notifiable conditions and public health risks from legionella control, drinking water, skin penetration and funeral matters to healthy built environments, providing expert advice and deliver environmental health promotion programs at community events.
The Environmental Health team support initiatives and invitations to work with our Aboriginal communities that improve health outcomes including Housing for Health projects and community events

Essential Criteria
License: Current NSW Class C Driver’s License Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in an accredited Environmental Health degree
Selection Criteria
Tertiary qualifications in applied science (environmental health) or an accredited Environmental Health degree. Detailed knowledge of the NSW Public Health Act 2010 and the Regulations. Demonstrated experience in and understanding of environmental health, including relevant public health legislation and assessment of environmental health risks Demonstrated highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills Ability to plan and complete tasks independently as well as to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
