Join Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service (WBHHS) in Bundaberg and be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, compassionate and contemporary mental health care. This is an opportunity to combine your specialist psychiatric expertise with your passion for improving health outcomes and quality of life for people with intellectual and developmental disability.
Your opportunity:Provide expert Psychiatric care assessment and management of patients with an intellectual disability or on the autism spectrum.This role will predominantly be a Consultation Liaison role to community and inpatient teams and may also include a small cohort of direct patient care, as part of an Intellectual and Developmental Disability team.Provide professional leadership in the area of Mental Health within a multidisciplinary environment.Opportunity for Private Practice: The successful candidate may have the opportunity to establish private practice outside of their WBHHS appointment with local private hospitals. The successful candidate may receive assistance and concessions with:Use of the local private hospital's sessional rooms to allow establishment of practice and referral pathwaysAssistance with credentialling and administrative support to commence private practiceIntroduction to local GP's, physicians and surgeons to facilitate referral pathways.
Qualifications and other requirements:Mandatory possession of a Medical qualification from a registered tertiary institution and Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) with a current annual practicing certificate is essential and fellowship of the Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), as recognised by the Australian Medical Council, including maintenance of CPD and good standing as required by AHPRA for the maintenance of Specialist Registration.Specialist Registrants will be preferred in all positions; however non-specialists or overseas trained specialists may be considered where appropriate and significant progression towards fellowship can be demonstrated. Applicants who have completed specialist qualifications but are yet to be registered as a specialist are encouraged to apply.All such qualifications should be submitted to AHPRA for inclusion on their website in which case, this will provide evidence of qualification. Copies of the required information must also be provided in sufficient time to enable the awarding of Scope of Clinical Practice (SoCP) prior to the commencement date.All applicants must be awarded Scope of Clinical Practice (SoCP) by the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service Credentialing and SoCP committee. Information presented for application will be presented to the committee during the selection process, and all appointments are subject to maintenance of SoCP within the CSCF for the facilities in which clinical work is to be undertaken. This process must be completed prior to commencement. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and if applicable registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.Opportunity for private practice exist at nearby private hospitals.
