Senior Software Engineer – Client Transitions (Tue–Sat schedule)

About the Role 

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to own and evolve our client transition capability across Registry, Managed Funds, and Employee Share Schemes (ESS). 

This is a hands-on role focused on designing and building the systems that power large-scale data migrations, while taking end-to-end ownership of migration delivery. Every transition is unique, complex, and time-critical, requiring strong engineering judgement, deep data expertise, and the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes under pressure. 

You will operate at the intersection of software engineering, data, and real-world execution, playing a critical role in onboarding new clients onto the Automic platform. 

Working Pattern 

This role follows a Tuesday to Saturday schedule, aligned to client migration delivery cycles. 

• Tuesday to Saturday working week 
• Saturday availability is essential, as critical client migrations are typically executed on weekends 
• Weekdays are focused on engineering, tooling, automation, and platform enhancements 

Tech Stack 

• Java, Spring Boot 
• AWS (cloud-native architecture) 
• Data processing, transformation, and pipeline design 
• Strong focus on data structures, performance, and scalability 

Key Responsibilities include: 

• Design, build, and enhance migration tooling using Java and Spring Boot 
• Develop scalable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and loading 
• Lead complex client transitions from planning through to successful delivery 
• Analyse, map, and reconcile large, complex datasets from incumbent platforms 
• Build reusable frameworks and automation to improve migration efficiency, quality, and scalability 
• Drive performance, resilience, auditability, and data integrity across migration processes 
• Contribute to a cloud-native engineering environment leveraging AWS 
• Partner with Product, Operations, and Implementation teams to ensure successful migration outcomes 
• Continuously improve migration tooling, processes, and platform capabilities 

About You! 

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

• Strong experience developing backend applications using Java and Spring Boot 
• Experience building data-intensive systems and processing large datasets 
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and scalable system design 
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex data challenges 
• Experience working in time-critical environments and delivering high-quality outcomes 
• A proactive, ownership-focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement 
• Experience with data migration, ETL, integration, or transformation solutions will be highly regarded 
• Exposure to AWS and cloud-native architecture will be highly regarded
