Operations Support Supervisor

The Operations Support Supervisor (OSS) provides operational oversight and supervision to ensure Therapeutic Residential Care houses are in compliance with organisational standards, Child Safe Standards and Out of Home Care Standards. This role does not directly manage staff members, instead offering guidance, coaching, and practical support to House Leads and Support Workers. The OSS ensures house standards, assists with rostering, monitors compliance, and supports incident management, while promoting child safety and therapeutic care principles.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and operational support to house teams without direct line management responsibilities.
• Monitor adherence to house standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Assist House Leads with roster development and coverage planning.
• Support incident reporting and management processes, ensuring timely escalation to the Service Manager and Operations Manager.
• Conduct regular house visits to review compliance, safety, and quality of care.
• Assist with onboarding and induction of new staff members in collaboration with the Services Manager.
• Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping across houses (shift notes, incident reports, medication logs).
• Assist with and lead House Leader meetings.
• Promote trauma-informed and culturally safe practices in all interactions.
• Collaborate with the Operations Manager and Services Manager on risk identification and mitigation strategies.
• Provide after-hours operational support as required.
• Champion child safety principles and mandatory reporting obligations.

Key Requirements

Essential:

• Experience in residential OOHC or similar environment.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and child safety principles (ideally – Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and other therapeutic frameworks)
• Understanding of mandatory reporting and reportable conduct requirements.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Current Working with Vulnerable People registration (or ability to obtain).
• Current Police Check and driver’s license.
• First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain).
• Willingness to undergo Child, Youth and Families Suitability Check

Highly desirable:

• Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or equivalent.
• Experience in rostering and operational compliance.
• Training in de-escalation and behaviour support.
• Experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and embedding cultural safety.
